Counterweight Arbor—A device constructed to hold counterweights, to counterbalance set. A multi-speed arbor has a grooved sheave on top and one sheave at the bottom. It is used when travel of arbor is restricted. For every foot arbor travels the batten travels two feet. Top

Counterweights—Weights are grooved on ends to sliip between counterweight arbor rods. The weight of each piece is known by the thickness. 1" thick equals approximately 17 lbs. 2" thick equals approximately 35 lbs. These are 5" wide. 1'-0" high of counterweights equals approximately 204 lbs. Top

Floor Block—A sheave to reverse the path of a hand line on counterweight sets or curtain track systems. Top

Hand Lines—A 3/4" or 1" manila rope used to move a rigging set or a 3/8" cotton cord for a curtain on a track system. Top

Head Block—A large sheave with corresponding grooves for each lead line, and one groove for the hand line. Top

Idler Block—A sheave sometimes known as a mule block. Used to divert the path of the cable line(s). Top

Lead Cables—Cables that are connected to the pipe batten and run up and over the loft blocks, across to the head block and down to the arbor. Top

Loft Block—Usually a smaller sheave with one groove for a lead line cable. Top

Motorized Sets—This system is operated by a properly sized, electrically powered winch. These units are custom built for your lifting requirements. Top

Pipe Batten—A 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" pipe used to hang drapes, tracks, lights, scenery, etc. Top

Rope Lock—A safety device used to clamp hand line to insure nonmovement of set(s). The safety ring is designed to keep the rope lock from accidentally being opened. Top

Tee Bar System—A system of T-Bars placed close together to form guide tracks. Used for counterweight arbors and floating type floor blocks. Top

Trim Chains—Short chains with snaps and safety bolts connected at battens are used to level pipes and scenery. Top

Winch Sets—This system is operated by a hand winch instead of a counterweight arbor. Usage is restricted on stage areas. Top

Wire Guide System—A pair of cables placed for guides on a counterweight arbor, instead of T-Bars. Top
